In my message last Thursday I shared a simple technique that can be used to free upwards to ten extra days of your life.

Following that note, one reader shared with me that his daughter gave up her iPad for just two days… and has since learned three songs on the piano by her favorite artist.

Inspired by this example I decided to give my office measles!

My wealth-building tip today is about helping you declutter.

Some of you may have already taken steps. For example, transferring from paper bills to electronic statements.

It’s a great first step to help remove paperwork off your desk and in and around your house.

However, that’s not the only tip I have for you today.

Are you ready for the next?

You’ll need a red marker,  a Sharpie will do.

Now, each time you touch a piece of paper, put one red dot on it.

Well… not exactly…

Now, every time you pick up that same piece of paper, add another red dot.

Eventually, you’ll have so many red dots on random pieces of paper it will look like they contracted the measles.

The general rule is that you should touch a piece of paper like a bill or similar correspondence once, act on it and file it, file it immediately, or discard or recycle it.

As silly as this exercise sounds, it will make you more self-aware. And hopefully trigger you to start an organizational system.

A simpler, better-organized life is something that anyone can achieve and helps you to feel more relaxed and use your time more efficiently. An essential ingredient if you want to live a wealthy life.
